Penderyn Distillery Notes, from their website :
In fact, Penderyn Distillery is the only distillery in Wales and one of the smallest distilleries in the world. One of the few remaining independent distilleries, Penderyn takes its name from the old Welsh village in which it is located and nestles in the foothills of the ancient Brecon Beacons mountain range.
The Brecon Beacons National Park is an area of outstanding natural beauty famed for its breathtaking scenery, open moorland, clear rivers and tumultuous waterfalls.
Ten thousand years ago the last ice age ended. The ice floes covering Northern Europe stopped where Penderyn Distillery lies today before retreating back to the Arctic.

Here we produce just one cask per day of the finest malted barley spirit, which, when matured, is recognised worldwide as one of the finest malt whiskies. The majority of our spirit goes into cask for ageing in our cellars. Minute quantities are diverted to craft our other award-winning products.
In a world dominated by the marketing departments of multinational and multibrand companies we take great pride in our authenticity, obsessive passion and attention to detail.
All exceptional whiskies bring together the crucial ingredients: the still, the wood and the water. If you take the time to read on about our products and process we are sure you will discover why, like Welsh gold, Penderyn Single Malt Whisky is so rare that it has to be on strict allocation to markets outside Wales. It is one of the rarest, finest and most delicate malt whiskies available.
From the time when our cooper goes into the sustainable American white oak forests to hand select trees from which our barrels are made through to the bottling line at the distillery where dedicated staff hand polish every bottle as they come off the line our commitment to quality is uncompromising.
Tasting Notes, from the Penderyn website :

At premium strength (46% vol) Penderyn Sherrywood yields rich dark fruits and caramels from dry Oloroso sherry casks which intermingle with green applies, hazelnuts and hints of sugared almonds. The nose is quickly reminded of Penderyn's classic freshness. The taste begins with remarkable sweetness that gives way for a moment to a refreshing dryness in the mid palate. Caramels and sultanas persist into a long finish.
