The Old Kilbeggan Distillery is the oldest continually licensed distillery in the world and has enjoyed the good times but also the tough times for Irish whiskey over its 250 years.
Kilbeggan Irish whiskey and the Old Kilbeggan Distillery are part of Cooley Distillery, the only independent Irish-owned whiskey distillery. Cooley was established in 1987, the first Irish whiskey distillery to be setup in over 100 years with a clear vision of saving some of the historic brand names of Irish whiskey.
Cooley is extremely proud of being able to resurrect the Kilbeggan Irish whiskey brand and keeping it independent to maintain its authenticity. Cooley continues to invest in the Old Kilbeggan Distillery and the commencement of distilling onsite in 2007 is part of larger plans that Cooley has for bringing the Old Kilbeggan Distillery and its brands back to their former glory.

Kilbeggan Irish whiskey has recently been given an older brother with the launch of our Kilbeggan 15 Year Old, which was released to mark the 250th anniversary of the Old Kilbeggan Distillery.
Our Master Blender Noel Sweeney handpicked a small number of the best casks maturing in the warehouses at the Old Kilbeggan Distillery and the whiskey was launched at a special ceremony held to mark the re-start of distillation at Kilbeggan on 19th March 2007. This is a small batch bottling and is therefore a limited edition so be sure to grab a bottle if you see it!
