In 1263 the Anscestors of later owners Clan Mackenzie saved King Alexander III of Scotland from being gored by a stag whilst out hunting.
The grateful King granted him the right to bear the stag's head on his coat of arms. To this day every bottle of Dalmore single malt whisky from this distillery is still adorned with this proud emblem
Production halted for a period during the First World War, when the Admiralty requisitioned the factory for the production of mines. Not many distilleries can claim that in their past! A bottle of Dalmore also holds the record for the most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold: £25,877.50
Tasting Notes :
Nose Attractively perfumed nose offers sweeter malt, thick cut orange marmalade, Sherry and a hint of leather.
Palate Fuller-bodied than the previous 12-year-old, it has an initially drier Sherry taste, though sweeter Sherry develops in the mouth, along with spice and balancing, delicate, citrus notes.
Finish The finish is longer, with more spices, ginger, lingering Seville oranges and a suggestion of vanilla
